Around the World 2017: Digital Media in a Post-Truth Era

By May 9, 2017Mashup, Roundup, Serendipity

I recently spent an entire day at this wonderfully international digital conference. I can highly recommend the Kule Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Alberta, Canada, annual “Around the World” conference.
I found this years’ theme irresistible: Digital Media in a Post-Truth Era.

“The unfolding of recent political events in the US has sparked much debate around ‘fake news,’ disinformation and trustworthiness on the web. This year’s conference used these developments as a starting point for a broader discussion of how digital media has challenged our notion of truth.”

Hearing so many points of view on the crisis of confidence in our political systems was in some ways comforting, in others, terrifying.
Past years’ conferences are archived and I assume this years’ video will be here when available: http://aroundtheworld.ualberta.ca/archive/

Here is the Kule Institute’s Storyfication that includes many of my tweets. I even got a mention in the video!
